SnapCast privacy
Updated October 23, 2026
SnapCast keeps screenshots and recordings on your device. The extension does not collect them.
Data stays on the device
Screenshots, recordings, and the library are stored in the browser on that device. Kitly Apps cannot see them. Uninstalling SnapCast removes that local storage from the browser profile.
No collection
SnapCast does not collect personal data, browsing history, or the contents of your captures. It does not sell or share data. There is no analytics in the extension and no remote code.
Permissions
SnapCast requests activeTab, scripting, storage, downloads, tabCapture, and clipboardWrite. Each permission is used only for the reason below.
- activeTab
- Used when you click SnapCast or press a shortcut, to capture the tab you are on. It does not watch tabs in the background.
- scripting
- Runs the capture on the page you chose, including content under sticky headers and inside inner scroll areas.
- storage
- Keeps the library, settings, screenshots, and recordings in the browser on this device.
- downloads
- Saves a screenshot, recording, or PDF to your computer when you download or export it.
- tabCapture
- Records a browser tab when you start a tab recording.
- clipboardWrite
- Copies a capture to the clipboard when you choose copy.
When this site opens
SnapCast opens this website after you install it, and again after a major update, so you can see how to start and what changed. Those visits do not include your screenshots or recordings.
- After install, SnapCast opens the welcome page.
- After a major update, SnapCast opens the what's-new page.
Opening those pages is a normal visit to this website. SnapCast does not send your screenshots, recordings, or browsing history with the visit. Cookies and measurement on the website are described in the site privacy policy. The extension itself has no analytics and no remote code.
