Overview

Amazon KDP Studio turns your manuscript into files you can upload to KDP. Write in the app or import a Word .docx, Markdown or text file. Chapters are found automatically. Pick your trim size, paper, ink and bleed, choose a typography preset, and watch the two-page spread preview update as you go. Front matter, back matter and the table of contents are built from simple forms.

When the interior is ready, the cover builder sizes your full-wrap cover from your page count and paper, with spine, bleed, safe-zone and barcode guides. Use a template or your own artwork.

The preflight check compares your book with KDP's print rules and gives you a Fix button for anything that needs attention. Then export the print interior PDF with embedded fonts, the cover PDF, a Kindle EPUB and the 1600 × 2560 eBook cover.

It also makes journals, planners and puzzle books (lined, dot grid, planners, trackers, sudoku, word search, mazes and more), and includes a royalty calculator for each Amazon marketplace and a KDP upload checklist.

Everything runs in your browser on your own device. No account, no uploads, no monthly fees. The download includes the app, a Start-Here guide and an 8:45 video tutorial with captions. Best on Windows, Mac and Chromebook; Android works too. iPhone and iPad have limits set by Apple (see the FAQ).

Do I need an internet connection or an account?+
No. After you download it, the app runs offline in your browser. There's no account and nothing to install, and your manuscript never leaves your device.
Will KDP accept the files?+
The app follows KDP's published specs for trim sizes, margins, bleed, spine width and cover size, and the preflight check flags common problems before you upload. You upload the files yourself in your own KDP account; always check them in KDP's previewer before publishing.
Can I use it on iPhone or iPad?+
Apple's Files app only previews HTML files, so the app won't run from there. Use a computer, Chromebook or Android device for book work. The guide also shows a free Shortcuts method to open it in Safari, where you can edit and export but need to use Back up before closing.
Is it a subscription?+
No. It's a one-time purchase for one user, with no monthly fees. You own the books you make, and the built-in fonts are open-licensed for commercial use.
